EVENT REVIEW: Broccoli City Festival 2017

May 11, 2017

How do I sum up Broccoli Fest all in three words, well those three words would be "FUNKY, GOOD , TIME" lol. The event held May 6th, 2017 just this past weekend and yes if you missed it, you missed out on a treat.

Located at Gateway DC, which if you are from the DMV Metro area you know this is actually the old Saint Elizabeths.

The event itself is an all day event, many consider this event to be our 'Coachella' or 'Made In America'.Beginning at noon and ending at 10pm the event provides great talents, great acts, great performances and great vendors.

Everyone one from Tidal to Toyota Green, to Titos were in attendance and apart of this great festival. To give a little history on this event read below:

"The first Broccoli City Festival was started in 2013 to draw attention for Earth Day, aligning with the brands mission to build thriving urban communities to sustain future generations by mobilizing and educating urban millennials through social impact campaigns and major events. Through our programs we are creating higher standards of sustainable living, environmental sustainability, renewable energy, economic opportunity, and access to high quality food and shelter. Created by Broccoli City which is , a social enterprise that roots itself in a triple bottom line strategy that focuses on people, planet, and profit. We are working to “redefine the cool” towards people being active and engaged participants in their community. We are creating a culture that celebrates and rewards people who are “getting active” and doing the work to make our communities healthier."

The event itself catered to the fundamentals of Earth Day and allowing the event to be celebration where you not only party, but you learn of new brands and initiatives that can better serve the community and help the community of which we all live in.

All in all, the festival was an amazing experience, I was able to meet really great brands and really great artists all under one roof. The experience itself was one you can not miss.

From the office of Broccoli City:

"In 2017 we are expanding from one festival to a year-round schedule of events beginning with a Broccoli City Week and Broccoli City Festival in DC followed by multiple events and festivals in cities around the country. The expanded format will allow partners to effectively participate in social impact, brand integration and plug in their respective goals for corporate responsibility."
