Just a few days away from Black History Month and two weeks shy of Martin Luther King Jr's Birthday, it was a honor to see an event like this paying homage to such a Historian, Martin Luther King Jr.
Shoe City and The Stokey Project created an amazing Fashion Show entitled "Living My Dream" featuring the youth of Baltimore in effort of celebrating the life of Martin Luther King Jr.
Lets just say this fashion show was nothing short of amazing. From the talent to the hosts to the DJ to the adorable models, everything worked together to make for an incredible fashion show which allowed the youth to showcase their knowledge of history.
Hosted By Artist Young Dylan (who you have seen everywhere from NBA games to Ellen), he kept the crowd hyped and did I mention this little guy had all the swag in the world.
The event started promptly at three pm, held at Mondawmin Mall in Baltimore. Set up just feet away from Shoe City Store,
the epic fashion show began and to a packed out crowd.
The event showcased great talent, huge personalities and offered some great performance pieces where selected youth were able to come on stage and recite their inner Martin Luther King Jr.
Let me not move to fast, did I mention they had DJ A Eazy on the ones and twos. The seven year old sensation not only had the crowd rocking, but she also had her some Naomi Campbell vibes on the runway.
I was completely astounded at the amount of talent these little ones displayed. I was even more blown away by what Shoe City and The Stokey Project did for the youth, which was open its platform for the youth so they can be more consciously involved while learning about our history as African Americans here in America.
In my book, this was another great successful event. The youth showed up and showed out, the crowd was packed, the talent was through the roof, I mean what more could you ask for.
As a youth growing up there were not to many platforms to where we could creatively be free and be out of harms way and thanks to Shoe City and The Stokey Project, this platform allows for youth to grow in the proper development while giving tools to grow in our cities.
LIKE THEY SAY: Your City, My City, Shoe City!!!!!!!
