EVENT REVIEW: Broccoli City Festival 2019

May 10, 2019

APRIL 27th, 2019 mark that date in your calendars, because Broccoli City Festival shut it completely down this year with the ultimate turn up!!! This year marked another year of celebration and TheMediaPrince.com was front and center to capture all things Broccoli City.

Held at the beloved Fedex Field stadium, which many know is the home of the Washington Redskins, let us all know that the glow up of Broccoli City is real. Each year the festival is held at a bigger and even better venues and this year was no different. The event itself is an all day event, which is concluded from a week full of events including a 5K run, a conference, various happy hours and events around the city in part of spreading their mission;

"Broccoli City is a leading social enterprise organization committed to educating, equipping and mobilizing millennials to build thriving urban communities that sustain future generations. Through a diverse array of programs and events, including the organization’s flagship music festival, Broccoli City continues to create pathways to higher standards of sustainable living, environmental sustainability, renewable energy, economic opportunity, and access to high-quality food and shelter."

Beginning at noon and ending at 10pm the event provides great talents, great acts, great performances and great vendors. What makes the event even more epic is they provide the city with it's own experience of the Rolling Louds and the Coachella's, while centering it around actual ways to push the environment forward.

But back to the festival, this year they pulled all the top acts out to strut their stuff on both stages, from City Girls to Teyana Taylor, to Gunna to Lil Wayne to Ella Mai to the headline closer Childish Gambino.

So lets take you through the journey, my cameraman (ShotByMLB) and I pulled up from our Lyft at roughly 3:45pm and entered through the media security check in and was immediately back stage. We saw Ella Mai warming up and Yung Miami practicing her twerking. We immediately began strategy, what we wanted to capture and what we didnt want.

IT WAS PRETTY EVIDENT WE WANTED EVERYTHING!!!!!!

The Festival featured two stages City Stage & Broccoli Stage. Many Artist graced both stages.

"The first Broccoli City Festival was started in 2013 to draw attention for Earth Day, aligning with the brands mission to build thriving urban communities to sustain future generations by mobilizing and educating urban millennial's through social impact campaigns and major events. Through our programs we are creating higher standards of sustainable living, environmental sustainability, renewable energy, economic opportunity, and access to high quality food and shelter. Created by Broccoli City which is , a social enterprise that roots itself in a triple bottom line strategy that focuses on people, planet, and profit. We are working to “redefine the cool” towards people being active and engaged participants in their community. We are creating a culture that celebrates and rewards people who are “getting active” and doing the work to make our communities healthier."

If you missed this year, use my advice and make sure sure you do not miss another year and trust me when I say, its an experience and an epic moment to enjoy a festival created by black men who gear their focus to help and empower the culture while teaching the necessary fundamentals of a green sustainable life.
