ARTIST SPOTLIGHT: Marli La'Nohm
George Blanks, better known by his stage name Marli La'Nohm was born on August 2nd, 1992. Raised in a single parent household in North East, D.C. he found comfort in the music of BoneThugs-N-Harmony, Biggie Smalls, Bob Marley, and Lauryn Hill when he himself didn't have siblings around to play with. When he was 12 years old he formed a Go-Go band with a few of his friends around his area. Gee loved his hometown style of music but always felt that he wanted a wider canvas to create on.
During his time as Lead Mic for his band, he rekindled the love he had when he was younger for writing rhymes. When the band decided to go its separate ways in 2008, Marli decided to become more serious about bettering his rhyme pattern and formulating concepts for songs. In 2010 Marli and a few of his close friends formed the hip hop collective Still Floatin'. Still Floatin' Marli says, "Is an idea and lifestyle as to where negativity and anything related to the negative is irrelevant because it gets floated over." Since Marli's formulation of Still Floatin' he has released 5 mix-tapes under the imprint, including 2 solo projects, 4 music videos, and a number of singles. Marli plans to keep improving his quality, and skill in order to bring a new sound to the face of Washington D.C. and has no plans on quitting.
