ARTIST SPOTLIGHT: Projex
Projex is an upcoming artist hailing from Maryland. As an artist, Projex has been officially making music since February 2015. In July 2015, Projex released his first mixtape entitled, “House Party”. The crowd-pleasing single, “Don’t Be Afraid” has had many spins in popular clubs in Washington D.C such as Stadium, Midtown, and Vita Lounge. In addition to club spins, he has also had two singles played on WPGC 95.5 and 93.9 WKYS.
With the help of DJ Blustar, who was the host of his House Party mixtape, he received over 2,000 downloads and 30,000 plays in three months. Projex is gaining a lot of attention since releasing a ‘“Work Remix” (Rihanna and Drake). The remix has become increasingly popular and accumulated over 300,000 plays and over 115,000 downloads on YouTube, Spinrilla, and SoundCloud. From an early age, Projex has been musically inclined. At age nine, he began to teach himself percussion. His progression in his craft, led him to play drums in multiple Go-Go bands as a young adult.
These musical endeavors led Projex to become not only an artist, but, a song writer and a performer as well. Projex has had numerous performances at Bowie State University, Frostburg University, Show Place Arena and West Virginia University . Along side these performances, Projex has been in many private show cases locally. Projex brings a commercial sound with a 90’s R&B feel.
Although, new to recording music, his drive, talent, and distinct vocal sound shows a promising future in the music industry for the 23 year-old.
