FEATURED ARTIST SPOTLIGHT: Stunna Lorenzana

TMP: When did you begin doing Music?

SL: I began writing music or writing rhymes when I was about 14 years old. I began recording music 4 or 5 years later. I have been releasing music independently since 2010.

TMP: What inspired you to pursue music?

SL: Growing up music really captured my attention more specifically rap and hip hop music. It seemed to me that rappers where able to live out their dreams while painting a picture of what they went through or what they were going through.

TMP: What elements do you look for when it comes to creating music?

SL:I like to create music that is authentic and genuine. Even if the song is not directly about me or my past I think the best music is able to relate to people from all walks of life.

TMP: What is your view on the current state of music?

SL: I think that music currently is very saturated and has no substance. Everyone is worried about making music that sounds more commercialized or popular then capturing the raw emotion that we used to hear growing up.

TMP: What is your view on the current state of rap?

SL: I think that rap will always continue to grow and becoming exciting. Currently I think a lot of rappers are trying to sound the same because they are worried more about being popular then creating authentic and genuine music. I think rappers should try more to create a unique sound then follow the trend because all trends eventually end.

TMP: How do you keep yourself on your toes in relation to creating something original in sound?

SL: I try not let other peoples music influence me. If a beat sounds too similar to something that I have heard before then I will probably not use it. Besides that I try not to over think while creating and make what feels right to me.

TMP: What advice do you have for that little boy or girl who wants to do what you do?

SL: My advice for the youth is that anything is possible but you have to work very hard and make a lot of sacrifices. Nothing is just given and you must be prepared to fail and pick yourself back up. If making music is your dream then keep working towards it but just know that you have a tuff journey ahead of you.

TMP: How do you want the listeners to feel after hearing your music?

SL: I want listeners to hear my passion and feel inspired. I want them to hear one of my songs and be able to relate it to their life.

TMP: Would you consider your music as your personal form of art?

SL: Yes my music is the only real personal form of art that I have ever used to express myself genuinely.

TMP: What genre would you consider your music, or make up one if want?

SL: As of now my genre of music is rap and hip hop but I am open to create music in different genres.

TMP: What is next for you?

SL: Next I will be releasing my debut independent album entitled The Silver City Surfer in 2017 and I will also make my film debut as an extra in a short film entitled Cabin The Story. In 2017 I hope to partner with a major label or brand to give myself a bigger platform for my music and start to take acting more serious.

TMP: Who currently inspires you in the music industry?

SL: Currently and as a youth I have been inspired by artists like Puff Daddy and Jay Z because of what they have achieved with their music and the businesses they have been able to create other then music. As far as musically I am currently inspired by artists like Drake and Logic because of the substance they have been able to instill in there music.

TMP: What is the biggest misconception about being an artist?

SL: The biggest misconception in my opinion is that all artists want to make music to become rich and famous. Social media has been able to show a more glamorous side of becoming an artist but most people don't know the actual sacrifices and investments that is needed to become a successful artist.

TMP: Where can your music be found?

SL: My music can be found directly on my website http://www.stunnalorenzana.com/. You can also find it all major digital platforms like apple music, spotify, or soundcloud.

TMP: are you social? FB? IG? TWITTER?

SL: My Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter handle is @StunnaLorenzana. I update frequently on all websites.
