BRAND SPOTLIGHT: Goon Milk

MEET Avante Davis, the Owner of the streetwear Brand @GoonMilk a brand based on turning negatives into positives, all while keeping a street image. G.O.O.N.S. Getting Out Of Negative Situations is our Mantra, making a conscious effort to give back to our community. As well as running the brand Avante is also a Stylist, Graphic Designer, and amateur videographer. He studied Fashion Merchandising at Morgan State University after Graduating from Central High School in Capitol heights MD. He believes in building the people up and doing for themselves and those are two principles that he thinks resonate the most in his work as well as in his brand. Being your own boss, and self sufficiency are keys in this society. Right now he feels like the only person that can stop him is him, and once you figure that out everything else kind of falls into place. The goal is to inspire as many people possible, to create, build, and get out of negative situations.

I started Goonmilk January 1st, 2013 as an online consignment shop to sell my second hand, lightly worn designer apparel. By February the buzz had grown from the initial idea back in the previous summer drinking 40's, into a clothing brand embellished with ski masked 40 ounces with a baby bottle top.

I can't take credit for my logo, it was commissioned by an Artist by the Name of Nightmare Mikey, owner of the brand Beautiful Nightmare, so shoutout to him for assisting me with this awesome logo. Now four years in, Goonmilk is expanding and taking on interns to share the knowledge and guide others in this business and entrepreneurship as a whole.

Right now we have a #50ShirtsChallenge challenging any brand to donate 50 shirts to the homeless in DC. This Past Easter Sunday Me and a few colleagues gave away 100 lunches and 50 shirts to the homeless in Franklin Park downtown and wanted to continue these efforts in giving back on a larger scale, thus creating the #50ShirtsChallenge.
