VMA's or BET..... MTV Video Music Awards 2019 gave us the Black Experience We Deserved

One would say the MTV Video Music Awards is a cultivating place of pure pop and bright rainbows of the music industry wrapped in one night, but last night it was an in your face, empowerment gumbo full of black excellence, black power and hip hop.

This in no way is shade to the VMA's, I believe last night was quite epic and very magical. Growing up, watching the VMA's is tradition and a way to see some of the most epics moments we will ever see all in one night. For example look below;

But last night was different; I saw inspiration, I saw collaboration, I saw power, I saw stance, I saw inclusion and I saw diversity like I have never seen before. Now The Media Prince is cluster of nationalities and last night the awards spoke to the kid in me who just wants to see themselves shine in a world not meant for them.

NOW FOR THE PEOPLE IN THE BACK , I KNOW BLACK MUSICIANS AND ARTIST HAVE BEEN ALL UP AND THROUGH THE VMAS, BUT LAST NIGHT FELT LIKE IT PROVIDED MORE OF US.

From Cardi B, to Missy Elliott, to Lizzo to HER to Lil Nas X to Queen Latifah to Naughty By Nature to Fetty Wap to Redman to Normani to Megan Thee Stallion to J Balvin to Rosalía, there was so much inclusion of Black and Hispanic artists that it was mind blowing, take a look below;

Megan Thee Stallion Performs 'Hot Girl Summer' & 'Cash Shit' | 2019 Video Music Awards

Lil Nas X Performs 'Panini' | 2019 Video Music Awards

Lizzo Performs 'Truth Hurts' & 'Good As Hell' | 2019 Video Music Awards

Rosalía ft. Ozuna Perform 'A Ningun Hombre', 'Yo x Ti, Tu x Mi', & 'Aute Cuture' | 2019 VMAs

I've never screamed so loud, almost shred a tear with Lizzo, it was just so monumental to see us in such powerful stances and the common theme of the night was to love yourself, do not give up and go forward for your dreams. Artists like Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus, Lizzo and more showcased that theme last night which too spoke very loud and vividly.

Black Girl Magic and Black Man Power oozed last night and for some moments I wondered "is this BET or MTV lol". It was quite great to see our artist get their shine especially since many Black Artist and Musicians inspired and mold the culture.

The Top performances of the night and I must say the most waited for were Missy Elliott who received the video vanguard award for her epic moments, style and videos she has produced in her career, Take a look:

Normani, who we first fell in love with in Fifth Harmony, has finally gotten her moment to take center stage and destroy, Take a look:

& last but, not least, was an omage to New Jersey, which is where the awards were held this year, with Naughty By Nature, Fetty Wap, Red Man , Wyclef Jean and Oscar Nominated Actress, Singer and Rapper Thee Queen Latifah, Take a Look:

All in all this year's VMA's were dynamic, fun and full of great moments. Shoutout to another great year!
