EVENT REVIEW: Mayor Muriel Bowser PRESENTS "202Creates Closing Event"
"Mayor Muriel Bowser launched 202Creates in September 2016 to amplify and celebrate DC's creative culture. 202Creates has showcased the diversity of the artists, makers, & entrepreneurs who contribute to the District’s thriving creative industries and has engaged residents through activities & conversations curated by the District’s creative innovators that build the creative culture in all 8 Wards. What started as a monthly celebration has turned into a fast growing movement with no intention of slowing down."
All month long 202Creates gave us event after event after event, so you know it wouldn't be right unless they close their month off properly. Created in the month of September, each annual year the entire month is taken over by a slew of events, showcases, movies, you name it, all in celebration of 202Creates and what it does for the art world here in the DMV.
This year they closed it out with a big bang with DC's own Recording Artist Ari Lennox who is currently signed with J. Cole's Dreamville Records. If you not familiar with her work, look below and see why everyone wants her:
Held at the beloved Ivy City Smokehouse in Washington, DC to a completely packed house, it was so packed I even sweated a little (this is where you laugh). Filled with all of the top influencers there to celebrate the great work and victorious month 202Creates has every year.
With DJ Dora Winifred on the ones and twos, the crowd was continuously hyped, I even danced IN PUBLIC, which never happens so you know that means the tunes were completely bumping.
